and Instructions Material should be lightweight, smooth, soft and absorbent. Old cotton, linen or polyester perma-press sheets. pillowcases and tablecloths with no holes. patches or stains are recommended. Sheets with a small amount of polyester may also be used. Any color of sheet with or without patterns is acceptable. Avoid flannel, however, which is too bulky and difficult to rip. Remove all hems and selvedges. Tear lengthwise into strips of 2" to 5" wide (5cm to 13 cm). Strips of the same width are sewn together to make bandages from 3 to 5 yards long (2.10m to 4.10m). The strips are sewn together with ends overlapping 1" (2.5 cm) securely sewn by hand or machine. The joined ends should not have any folds or tucks. Roll the strips as tightly as possible. This can be accomplished by hand (a pencil is a simple tool that can be used) or a bandage rolling machine. Bandage Roller - instructions to make Finished rolls can be fastened with safety pins, rubber bands or 1/4" selvedge. Pack bandage rolls of the same width together in a plastic bag and then into a strong and well-taped box. Weigh contents of each box. Do not seal until the list of contents has been completed. |
